Did you like it? Let the whole world know!

Sarah from Yes And Yes had this great idea of making 9 nice things in 9 days, and the first one is to write a yelp review for a small business you like.

Now that got me thinking.

You see, the thing is, I always want to write reviews. For this cute restaurant I’ve been to, a thank-you opinion about a doctor who helped me, a review on a small, family-run hotel I’ve been to in Crete… But the problem is, I rarely do it. I put it off until tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next month and next year. First I exclaim: “Yes, great place! I  totally need to help them grow by giving them a good score on the Internet” and then I just forget all about it.

Which is a shame because:
a) I rely a lot on other people’s opinion while choosing a hotel, a restaurant or even a doctor so it’s only fair I should repay with the same.
b) I believe the world is unfair enough as it is and it’s good to add some fairness to it by praising the nice guys and criticizing the bad ones :)

But ok, today we are concentrating on praising :)

Thanks to Sarah I finally got round to it and wrote several reviews! And if feels good. And I hope it will bring those places/people more customers/clients, and who knows, maybe even more smiles will appear?

If you know of a shop, a cafe, a hairdresser or anyone else that you really like, why not join Sarah her quest and spread the word? Doesn’t take much time and costs nothing, but leaves a trace of goodness in the world :)

  1. That’s great. I’m on a “don’t buy made in China” quest and I really appreciate it that people support local business. I try to do the same when I can.

  2. Likewise, I avoid China-made products. I think that a lot of shoppers are on this bent and it is starting to affect the Chinese economy. Maybe we can reduce the number of those large tankers that arrive on American shores daily from China with boatloads of plastic and other junk destined for Walmart stores! Walmart is starting to react to the backlash by recently announcing a ‘buy American’ promotion in its American stores.
I will believe it when I see all those made-in-China products disappear from the shelves!
